A Walk in the New Zealand Woods

Last night found us in Motueka, a small town that serves as a gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park.

After striking out in Tongariro due to bad weather, we enjoyed a spectacular day today on an 11k hike along the Coastal Track in the national park.

We were confronted with one awe-inspiring vista after another.

Passing waterfalls and streams,

we slowly made our way to Apple Tree Bay and strung up our hammock to hang out for a while. Words can’t do the bay justice. I’m not even sure photos really do.

I’m starting to think that if the Garden of Eden was more than a metaphor, it was located in New Zealand.
