Today is my last day in Istanbul with both my girls. The gloomy, overcast day foreshadows my mood as Shannon and Megan get ready to depart. We made the most of it, visiting the beautiful Gulhane Park.
April showers bring May flowers back in the USA, but the flowers are already pretty spectacular in Istanbul in early April.
Yesterday was a designated Shopping Day. My astute husband very politely bowed out after lunch, leaving us to wander through the Horse Market — so named because it used to be horse stables.
We tried to squeeze in a tour of Dolmabahce Palace, but we arrived an hour before closing and the line was exceedingly long. We settled for a few photo ops outside the gate and called it a day.
No party lasts forever and this happy reunion must come to an end. What a treat it’s been to share this fascinating city with my girls!
