Once upon a time there were four travelers from a faraway land. They were visiting the snowy mountains and castles surrounding Berchtesgaden when they heard grand tales of a majestic castle perched atop a mountain west of them. They determined to visit the castle before leaving Deutschland.
So, late one morning they set off in their carriage to find this distant castle. After a long journey along fast, then curvy country roads, the four travelers found the grand castle fit for a fairytale princess — Schloss Neuschwanstein.
The intrepid travelers discovered that the wonderful castle was built more than 150 years ago by Ludwig II, the king of Bavaria.
The castle was so lovely the ruler of the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney. patterned his Cinderella Castle after Ludwig’s wondrous home.
The travelers joined many others to wander through the spacious interior. Of course the decor was fit for a king and the view out every window was spectacular.
Upon visiting Schloss Neuschwanstein, the travelers were amazed to find another castle nearby. It was a castle owned by Ludwig’s family.
It seems castles run in the families of kings.
Having seen the castle fit for a fairytale princess, the weary travelers returned to the carriage and began the long journey home — stopping only once for a meager meal at the humble abode of the Burger King.
