The Great House Swap

In March, I was sitting in an apartment in Paris chatting with my husband and our friends, Robert and Dorothy Hinton, from the U.K. We were talking about our travels when Dorothy suggested that we swap houses. The Hintons would come to North Georgia for a couple of weeks and the Longinos would go to the Shire…uh..Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. Brilliant!

Months…and a couple home repair projects, landscaping and major cleaning episodes… later and it’s time for The Great House Swap.

Tin Can Gulch welcomes the Hintons. Here’s hoping they have a peaceful, replenishing stay.

The English countryside is calling my name. Thanks to Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, J.K. Rowling and Victoria Holt, I feel at home there. I’m even looking forward to the rain!

After all, the Hinton’s lovely Elizabethan farmhouse waits at the end of my wet stroll — complete with a hot cup of tea.
