After the luxury of the Norwegian Sun, the Talkeetna Roadhouse is roughing it! John and I are staying in The Little Cabin Out Back — which has a sign on it just in case you mistake it for something else.
Having spent my share of time tent camping and backpacking, the Roadhouse beats the heck out of a wet sleeping bag! Or the snow of Mt. McKinley.
The Roadhouse has been the safe haven for climbers and hunters for several decades. Our little cabin sleeps eight, but John and I have it to ourselves this evening. We are, however, sharing the bathroom in the main building with other guests. Here’s hoping my middle-of-the-night forays to the bathroom are minimal. Don’t think I’ll be drinking anything after 6 p.m.
